Songwriting with Boo Hewerdine & Darden Smith
Boo Hewerdine & Darden Smith met in 1989. Within 4 days they had written the songs that make up the bulk of their album Evidence . Hailed as a classic at the time, it is a testament to the power of collaboration. Since then they have stayed close friends and work together whenever they can. Previously to this they had both written alone and the experience opened their minds to co-writing. Both Darden and Boo since have worked on many interesting projects with other songwriters. Join them at Moniack for a magical week and discover new avenues to your writing.
Boo Hewerdine is a singer-songwriter and experienced tutor. He has written songs for Eddi Reader, k.d. Lang, Chris Difford and many others. His most recent album is God Bless the Pretty Things.

Darden Smith has been looking at the world around him, and turning it into songs for over forty years. He has put out fourteen albums, toured extensively across the US and Europe, and most recently founded SongwritingWith:Soldiers, which uses collaborative songwriting to help heal the trauma of combat and returning home. His sessions will focus on song structure, melody, word choice and how to pull from your own life to create songs.
