Poetry is all about making words memorable, and this workshop will offer ideas and tips for turning your poem into ‘a little machine for remembering itself’. Through discussion of examples and some fun exercises, John will provide you with the necessary tools and clockwork to build from scratch a poem that really works. Suitable for those new to writing, as well as those with some experience who are keen to improve their technique.

John Glenday’s first collection, The Apple Ghost won a Scottish Arts Council Book Award and his second, Undark, was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation.  Grain (Picador, 2009) was also a Poetry Book Society Recommendation and was shortlisted for both the Ted Hughes Award and the Griffin International Poetry Prize. His most recent collection – The Golden Mean – (Picador 2015) won the 2015 Roehampton Poetry Prize.

Free to attend and open to all young people aged 14 – 25.
