Hi everyone, my name is Pauline and I work for Moniack Mhor the Creative Writing Centre and I'm here today to walk you through the individual funding application of our youth -led fund which is led by a group of 13 young people from across Scotland and they form a steering committee and lead this fund. This initial bit is kind of the landing page that you will see when clicking on the link on our website leading to the funding application and it's just general information about the application form itself. Please don't worry about spelling and which words you use and if you're filling out this form on your phone it might be helpful to tilt your phone to landscape to make sure that you see every all the information and we say here it takes about 30 minutes to fill out the form and it might take you longer this is just a rough rough idea so when you start filling out the form you know how long it takes. We also have a word document so if you would like to fill out the whole form in your word program on your computer and then put it into this online form later to give you more time that's absolutely fine or you just fill it out in the word document and send us that word document that is also absolutely fine. The application form is divided into four sections in total. We have three sections in this application form itself and then we also have a the fourth part is a separate edi form which would be amazing if you could fill that out as well and then we have a link to the website itself, to if you have any other questions on the eligibility criteria, etc. So do go and have a look on the website itself. And if you do need help filling out your application, we're more than happy to help. So get in touch under that email address, youthfund@moniackmhor.org.uk. So yes, let's start moving through the application form. In this bit, we're asking you about the general information about yourself. In this case, my name, so that's Pauline. And my pronouns are she, her, if you would like to add those, you don't have to, if you prefer not to age, in my case, that is 31, so I'm slightly above the maximum age range, but obviously if you're between the ages 8 and 30, this is the right place to be. And this question is asking whether you're under 16 in which case we're asking for someone to help you fill out this form and if you're over 16 and you have someone helping you fill out this form there's also that option to take here. In my case no one is helping me out with this form so I click no and some more information opens up. If you could give us your email address in this bit or if you prefer being contacted via phone, please give us your phone number. Question 6 is asking where you're currently based in Scotland and you can give us a kind of a rough area where you're based but you can also share more detailed information about the city or a village or a hamlet. So I'm just going to put near Inverness in this bit and then in question number seven we're asking whether this application is a reapplication which means that you have already applied with a project or with a creative idea and you have not been successful and you're now reapplying with the same creative idea but taking into account the feedback that the group has given you on your applications, on my case, it wouldn't be a re -application, so I'm moving on to the next section, which is titled Your Creative Idea. And this is the section that the group, the steering committee will base their decision And so we're asking you to be as detailed as possible, so they have as much information as they can to make a decision on your funding application. And they're very, very excited to hear more about yourself and your creative idea. If you do need any help or assistance, get in touch with us. The word count in this section is just general guidance. The group is absolutely aware that you sometimes go over or slightly under the word count and they will take this into account. The question eight is tell us about yourself and your creativity and we're asking or they're asking around for around 150 words and this in this section or in this question and they would just like to get to know you better so they're asking what what kind of excites you creatively what inspires you what kind of creative activities do you enjoy and where are you in your creative journey And do you have any future plans or hopes you'd like to share with us? And again, these questions are only guidance and you only have to answer the ones relevant to you and if you have other questions that you would like to answer for yourself and add to this question, please do. Yeah, so that is the first question in this section. Then question number nine is what would you like to use the funding for? So this bit is kind of the bit with the highest word count. So 300 words with the focus on part one. So we're asking you to tell us more about your creative idea. So share with us in as much detail as possible what you'd like to do with the funding. And then the second part of this question, we ask you to give us a rough idea of total costs, not a detailed budget, but just how much money you would need to realise that creative idea so let's say you're passionate about sewing and you would like to apply for a sewing machine and the sewing machine is 250 pounds but you would also like to buy some fabric as well as some sewing accessories which would cost another £50 and then you would let us know that it would be £300 you're applying for. Then question 10 is asking how the funding would address challenges you face in participating or pursuing your creativity and in this bit you can you can tell us more about how the funding would remove barriers to achieving your creative potential and the group actually have added definitions of isolation and marginalisation to the website so you have a look on there as well and if you unsure about the words and need more help so please do have a look on there. Question 11 is how would the funding benefit you or others beyond the project and this is where the group would like you to share what impact the funding would have for you or other folk around you, for example, that could be developing skills, socialising with other people, creating community and more. So please don't shy away from having your own kind of benefits that come from your project. So these four questions, I'm just going to scroll up. So these for questions are kind of the core of this funding application. So do take your time and do get in touch if you have any questions. There are also a couple of sample of funding applications on the website that have been filled out by the group themselves to give you an idea. And the next couple of questions are more practical, more of a practical nature. So the next question, question 12, just asks if you have considered the materials that you may need for the project and that they might come with potential risks such as craft knives or heavy tools, line of cut materials, anything that might be sharp. So in this case, I have considered those risks and if successful we are asking you how you would like to receive the funding so there are two options there's either the bank transfer so we send you send the money directly to you or a trustee or the trusted adult that fills out the application form with you or we can order items directly to you or pay classes on your behalf. I'm going to show you both and so you have an idea and so bank transfer is fairly straightforward you just give us your bank details which means your full name as it's shown on your card and just because our system requires the kind of as as it's shown on your card directly and your sort code and your account number and if you'd like the items ordered or classes paid on your behalf and We need a bit more information, but not not a lot It would just be brilliant if you could give us relevant links to items that you would like to have and or links to classes that would be very helpful. And if you need help doing research, just let us know and I'm sure we can help. And if something is ordered to your house, such as an item, let's take the example of the sewing machine again, then we would also need your address. So please fill out that section and then the last question would be if there's anything else you'd like to ask us or tell us about and that is kind of the end of this section. So I'm just going to put in some lines here so we can move on to the next section. The last section which is very short which is just asking about showcasing opportunities because at the end of this project the group is planning to share outcomes of the people who have received funding. So basically an opportunity to show your work if you would like to, that could be in person or online as well. But the group was quite keen to let you know that whether you would like to showcase or not will not affect their decision about your creative idea. And so we're just asking whether you'd be interested in showcasing your work. In my case, yes, I would be interested and whether you would also potentially be interested in coming along to a showcasing event, in my case that would also be yes and that is the end of the funding application and now you would just, it would be the case of submitting and after you submit we will get in touch with the next steps. If you have any questions around that just visit our website there is an FAQ section and hopefully there will be everything answered that you need to know but please do get in touch if you have any other questions and good luck with your application and hopefully this will be an easy application to fill out and yeah looking forward to receiving your application.
