Writer Heather Parry will lead a fiction writing workshop for young people in Thurso and surrounding areas in June.

How to Write Great Characters

What does it take to create a fictional character that others can’t forget? What do we embrace from real life, and what do we discard? How does a writer build their first character when they’re taking their initial steps into fiction writing?
In this practical beginner workshop we’ll look at how we can take our knowledge about people and put that onto the page in a way that feels both realistic and literary – as well as unique to us. Bring pen, paper and enthusiasm – no experience needed!

Drinks and snacks provided.

We have a small bursary for transport costs, if transport is a barrier to attend, please send an email to youngwriters@moniackmhor.org.uk to learn more about this.

This workshop is part of our Highland Young Writers Programme, a free programme for people aged 14-24 who enjoy writing and | or are interested in learning more about the publishing industry.

Please note, this workshop is free but but you do need to secure your place by booking below. By booking, you confirm that you are a young writer aged 14-24, and based in Scotland. For enquiries, contact youngwriters@moniackmhor.org.uk.
