Writing Horror from History

How do we include real historical events in our horror writing, without indulging in sensationalism? How do we make facts fictional, whilst also respecting the root of these stories?

In this lively workshop, we’ll discuss horror’s tradition of taking inspiration from real life, and explore how we can continue that tradition in a way that feels generative, constructive and intersectional without losing horror’s edge.

No need for experience, just bring along a playful mind and pen and paper! Drinks and snacks provided.

Please note, this workshop is free but but you do need to secure your place by booking below. By booking, you confirm that you are a young writer aged 14-24, and based in Scotland. For enquiries, contact youngwriters@moniackmhor.org.uk.
