Location
WASPS Studios Inverness, Inverness, , IV2 3JP

Writer Elizabeth Reeder will lead the Young Writers’ Café for young people in Inverness and surrounding areas in July.

Creative non-fiction, essaying and memoir raise so many questions for people who write: where do we start, what do we write about, how do we write it, and how much of ourselves do we put into it, and how do we write that?  There’s also the process of writing non-fiction, which has so much potential in and of itself (notes, journaling, images, collage, multimedia etc).

In this workshop we will talk about different types of creative non-fiction, the vast potential of hybrid and experimental (and traditional) essaying and talk about the questions about how and why we might write  non-fiction, essay, memoir.

The workshop will consist of some short readings, conversation around what makes for exciting/engaging non-fiction, and we will do some writing in the workshop (you will never need to share this outloud in a session).

No need for experience, just bring along a playful mind and pen and paper! Drinks and snacks provided.

Please note, this workshop is free but but you do need to secure your place by booking below. By booking, you confirm that you are a young writer aged 14-24, and based in Scotland. For enquiries, contact youngwriters@moniackmhor.org.uk.
