Their stomach turn?  Two of Scotland’s finest crime writers will show you how it’s done by exploring character and plot development, and most importantly, tension-building techniques. Val and Louise will also cover research techniques, and support you in developing your work, whatever stage you are at.

Val McDermid is an internationally best-selling award winning writer. She has published 28 crime novels, children’s fiction, non-fiction, radio drama and short stories. She is a regular broadcaster on BBC Radio4. She lives in Edinburgh.

Louise Welsh is the author of six novels including The Cutting Room, Naming the Bones, and A Lovely Way to Burn.  She also writes for radio and stage, including librettos.  She was the writer in residence for the Universtiy of Glasgow, and Glasgow School of Art.
