Voices from the past: creating authentic and compelling character and setting in historical fiction

Historical fiction brings the past to life, telling new stories from old. But how do we write in a way that is true to the period while being urgent and relevant to today’s reader?

In this workshop Sean Lusk will cover how to do your research; how to write real historical characters in new ways; how to invent credible new characters to walk alongside them; and discuss how to make language and tone convincing yet fresh.  The masterclass will include tips, tools, and techniques, highlighting pitfalls to avoid, and include some short exercises, discussion, and Q&A.
