Flow and form in the short story

On this intensive, fast-paced course we will move beyond the usual barriers to creativity, to attend to the possibilities and energies of our writing. This inspirational week will look at elements of flavour, sense and surrealism in fiction, and encourage flow in your writing to reconnect with creativity beyond any internalised expectations of form.
By giving space to the unconscious, learn how to create writing that’s richer, wiser and more resonant. Then, having excavated these raw materials, find out how to mould them into the best shape – honing your technique to create an assured structure and voice. We will take our early ideas all the way through to the later stages of fiction writing to cover trouble-shooting, re-writing and editing our work, to ensure all of its elements heighten the power of our story. You’ll come away with a more confident approach to your writing and a better understanding of how to take your fiction from a vague nebulous start to a sharp finish.  Come with an idea or a fragment, a dream or a messy first draft. Leave with a story that dares to stand on its own two feet.
