Moniack Mhor is delighted to be sponsoring this event at the Bristol Festival of Literature.

A workshop that takes a fresh and surprising look at the entire notion of ‘inspiration’ and dispels the trepidation, familiar to nearly all writers, of the blank page or empty screen.  We’ll combine lots of writing, reading and talking with plenty of fun, and along the way perhaps unravel a few mysteries and explode a few myths about writing (and writers). You’ll have the chance to release your imagination, pursue crazy ideas and uncover your own stories, discovering that beyond the blank page lies a world accessible to all writers yet unique to each – a world teeming with people, places, human predicament and possibilities for fiction.  Total beginners and practising writers are equally welcome.

Dr Morag Joss’s eight novels have been published in the UK and USA and widely translated. She has also written for radio and television. Her awards and shortlistings include a CWA Silver Dagger, the USA Edgar Award for Best Novel and a Heinrich Böll Residency. Recently she has held Fellowships at the universities of Reading and Southampton, and tutored for the Arvon Foundation. She currently teaches Creative Writing at Oxford University and is an accredited Consultant Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund. Her roots are in Scotland, where she returns regularly as a tutor at the national writers centre at Moniack Mhor.
