Start to Write – Poetry and Fiction
Join us for a week of creative writing, two days of fiction and two days of poetry.
During the mornings you’ll join workshops led by Heather Parry and Ryan Van Winkle, after lunch you’ll have 1-to-1 tutorials with the tutors and in the afternoon you have time to write and one day you’ll join a group of 3 to make dinner for the group.
This course is FREE to attend and open to anyone aged 18-24, living in or from the Highlands and Islands. It is ideal for anyone curious about writing and you don’t have to have any experience – all we ask is that you come with an open mind and a keenness to learn.
This course is also suitable for someone with more experience, though – if you’re looking to refresh your skills or experiment with a new area of writing, you’re also more than welcome to register your interest.
All travel and access costs will be covered.
We ask everyone to register their interest for joining the course by 7th September and we’ll get back to folk by the 11th September with the outcome.

Tutors
Heather Parry is a Glasgow-based writer and editor. She is the editorial director of Extra Teeth magazine and co-created the Illustrated Freelancer’s Guide with artist Maria Stoian. Her novels and nonfiction have been longlisted for the Saltire Fiction Book of the Year Award, the Polari First Book Prize and the Bread & Roses Award. Her most recent novel is Carrion Crow.
