The Royal Court Young Playwrights Award is a free, open-access competition for anyone aged 13-18 in the UK interested in writing a play. Winners will have their plays performed at the Royal Court Theatre in London and published by Nick Hern Books.
This free workshop, led by Royal Court Associate Playwright and Young Writers Associate, Beth Flintoff, will help you get started coming up with ideas and writing scenes for your play.
Beth is a playwright, dramaturg, and theatre-maker. HerplayThe Ballad of Maria Marten has toured three times and is published by Nick Hern Books. In 2024 it was NHB’s second most frequently performed play around the world. She isan Associate Artist at Rabble Theatre Company in Reading. Her playHenry Iwas in The Telegraph’s top 5 shows of 2023, and Spy in the Stalls’ Best Regional Show of the Year.
