We are delighted to welcome Mai Kaloti, a Palestinian writer supported by the British Council Artist Residency Programme, for a residency this March.

Mai Kaloti is a Jerusalem-born writer whose work explores identity, memory and Palestinian social history. Trained in journalism, sociology and modern media, she began her career at Al-Quds newspaper and later worked with leading cultural institutions on projects examining language, representation and social change. Her writing appears in Hamlet, Don’t Drink the Poison (2011), This Week in Palestine, Brownbook, and Granta. In 2024, she co-created Byoot (‘Houses’), a critically acclaimed theatrical work blending literature and performance. She is currently completing a short story collection, while also working at the Educational Bookshop in Jerusalem and raising three daughters.
The British Council Artist Residency Programme is designed to support artists and cultural professionals whose work has been impacted by war and conflict.
