FAQs

Who can apply?

Anyone aged 8-30 who has experienced barriers to their creativity due to isolation or marginalisation.

Can you give me an idea of the types of projects or activities you will fund?

We’re keen to fund a broad variety of creative ideas, that can include drawing, knitting, painting, sewing, filming, photography, music, dance, writing, performing, and more! Anything that makes your creative idea happen! For example if you’d like to learn how to sew, we could provide a sewing machine, or if you’d like to attend a photography course we can cover the costs for that, if you are a writer or songwriter who would like some mentoring, or if you need materials, training, or support to make artwork of any kind.

How do I know if I am isolated or marginalised?

We give an explanation of the definitions of isolation and marginalisation that we are working with for this fund on the Who Can Apply? page, here. If you feel that you identify as isolated or marginalised outwith these definitions then we would still love to hear from you.

Will you ask for proof or details of my experience?

No, we don’t ask for any proof or details. There is space in the application form to share any information that you would like us to know about, but it has no impact on the decision making process how much you share.

How are decisions made?

The Steering Committee read each application individually and then meet once a month as a group to discuss and decide on applications we have received.

What happens next?

We aim to get back to everyone within 8 weeks of receiving your application. Every application is unique, which means some are much quicker to action than others. For group applications we aim to get back to applicants within 10 weeks of receiving the application.

My application has been accepted. What now?

We will be in touch with the next steps. In some cases, where items are needed we will be able to purchase the items for you, or the money you need for the project will be sent to your account.

What don’t we fund?

We don’t have any restrictions as long as it supports your creative idea and you meet the eligibility criteria, available on this page, Who can Apply?.

How much funding is available for groups/collectives?

For a group/collective you can apply for up to £500 per individual in the group, up to a maximum of £2000. For example, if there are three people in the group you can apply for up to £1500. If there are four people or more you can apply for up to £2000.

Is there a minimum amount that you’ll fund?

£500 is a maximum amount that individuals can apply for. There is no minimum amount as we would expect that many projects or activities would need less than this.

My application has been unsuccessful. What now?

We are happy to provide feedback and will accept one reapplication. If we still don’t feel able to suppot your project we will do our best to help direct you towards other sources of support or funding.

How many times can I apply?

We hope to benefit as many people as possible with this fund. This means that we will only accept one application per individual or group per project, but if unsuccessful you’re able to reapply one time. However, if you are applying as part of a group for one project, you may submit a separate individual application for a different project.

My idea is time sensitive, can you help?

If your project is time sensitive, please email on youthfund@moniackmhor.org.uk after you have submitted the application and we will do our best to look at it as a priority.
