Join us for a glorious week of serious play and playful seriousness on the page. We invite new writers, and perhaps those who have taken some time away from their writing, for a generative week with us, a chance to produce lots of exciting new material.

As the colours turn and the nights begin to draw in, join us at Moniack Mhor for an uninterrupted week of writing. There will be roaring fires, company in the evenings, and plenty of delicious food to fuel those literary fires.

In this class we’ll talk about the possibilities that audio drama offers you the writer, listen to extracts of plays and do an exercise in acoustics and sound effects. Includes a short Q&A.

A poem is never just a poem. Join Joelle Taylor to consider how we write poetry that can be practically applied. Write new material, read widely, discuss freely and imagine a future as a professional writer and poet. There are two full-fee bursaries available for this course for UK-based writers who experience marginalisation.

How do you fit the various elements of a crime novel into a coherent narrative structure? This session provides practice in identifying and deploying the key structural components of crime narrative.

As the nights get longer and the leaves fall, cosy up at Moniack Mhor and get some focused writing time. There will be company if you want it, hearty meals in the evening, but most of all, time and space to concentrate on your project without any distractions.

Crime fiction is a dialogue-driven genre. This session introduces the key principles and techniques involved in crafting compelling dialogue in crime fiction.
